Last updated: October 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how PawGroom collects, uses and shares your personal information when you visit getpawgroom.com, place an order, contact us or otherwise interact with us. Please read it together with our Terms of Service.

1. Who we are

PawGroom is operated by André Costa, a sole trader (empresário em nome individual) established in Portugal, VAT/NIF PT256668906. André Costa is the "data controller" responsible for your personal information.

Contact for anything related to privacy: support@getpawgroom.com

Our store currently ships to the United States only. Because we are established in the European Union, we handle personal information in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and we also respect the privacy rights that US state laws give to US residents.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Order and contact details: name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number, and the items you order.
  • Payment information: your payment is processed by our payment providers (see section 5). We do not see or store your full card number.
  • Messages: what you send us by email or through the contact form, including photos you choose to attach.
  • Reviews: your name or display name, rating, review text and any photos or videos you choose to submit.
  • Marketing preferences: whether you have signed up for or unsubscribed from our emails.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, approximate location derived from it (country, state, city), browser and device type, operating system, language, referring page, pages and products viewed, items added to the cart, and the date and time of your visit.
  • Cookies, pixels and similar technologies: small files and scripts that keep the store working (for example, remembering your cart), remember your preferences, and help us measure and improve our advertising. See section 6.

Information from other sources

  • Our service providers may send us information related to your order, such as payment confirmation and fraud-risk signals from our payment providers, and delivery status from carriers.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as health data, precise geolocation or government ID numbers), and we ask you not to send it to us.

3. Why we use your information and our legal bases

We use your information for the purposes below. Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis is shown for each purpose.

  • To take and fulfill your order: process payment, ship your order, send order and shipping confirmations, and handle refunds under our 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
  • To provide customer support and answer your questions. Legal basis: performing our contract with you and our legitimate interest in helping our customers.
  • To keep tax and accounting records and comply with the law. Legal basis: legal obligation.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the store secure, including screening orders for fraud risk. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our business and customers.
  • To send marketing emails, if you have signed up for them. Legal basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
  • To ask for and publish product reviews. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in showing genuine customer feedback; a review is published only if you choose to submit one.
  • To measure and improve our store and our advertising, and to show ads for our products on other platforms. Legal basis: our legitimate interest where the law allows it, and your consent where the law requires consent (for example, for non-essential cookies and pixels for visitors in the EU, EEA or UK).

We do not make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you based solely on automated processing.

4. Do you have to give us your information?

You can browse the store without telling us who you are. To place an order, we need your name, email, shipping address and payment details; without them we cannot process or deliver your order.

5. Who we share your information with

We share personal information only with the service providers and partners we need to run the store, and only what each of them needs.

  • Store platform and checkout: Shopify (hosts our store and checkout and stores order and customer data).
  • Payment providers: Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, PayPal and Klarna. These providers process your payment details directly and may use your information under their own privacy policies, for which they are independently responsible.
  • Order fulfillment and delivery: Zendrop, our fulfillment partner, its suppliers, and the shipping carriers that deliver your order. They receive your name, shipping address, phone number and the contents of your order so they can pack, ship and track it.
  • Shipment tracking for PayPal payments: TrackiPal, an app that syncs the tracking number of your order to PayPal when you pay with PayPal.
  • Advertising and measurement: Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), through the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API. See section 6.
  • Email: Klaviyo, which we use to send emails and manage email preferences.
  • Reviews: Judge.me, which we use to collect and display product reviews. Reviews you submit are shown publicly on our store.
  • Professional advisers and authorities: accountants, legal advisers, tax authorities, courts or regulators, when required by law or needed to protect our legal rights.
  • Business transfers: if the business is sold or reorganized, your information may be transferred to the new owner, who must continue to respect this policy.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

6. Advertising, analytics, cookies and your choices

We use cookies, pixels and similar technologies for three purposes:

  • Essential: to make the store and checkout work (for example, your cart and security).
  • Analytics and performance: to understand how visitors use the store so we can improve it.
  • Advertising: we use the Meta Pixel (in your browser) and the Meta Conversions API (from our server) to tell Meta about actions taken on our store, such as viewing a product, adding it to the cart or completing a purchase. This can include your IP address, browser information, cookie identifiers and, in protected (hashed) form, contact details such as your email address or phone number. Meta uses this to measure how our ads perform and to show our ads to people who may be interested in our products, on Facebook, Instagram and other places where Meta shows ads.

Under some US state privacy laws, this kind of advertising may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or "targeted advertising", even though no money changes hands.

How to opt out:

  • Use our Your Privacy Choices page: https://getpawgroom.com/pages/data-sharing-opt-out
  • Turn on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser or browser extension. Where it applies, we treat this signal as a request to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising for the browser and device you are using.
  • Adjust or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop the cart or checkout from working.
  • Manage how Meta uses information for ads in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.
  • Where a cookie banner is shown to you, use it to accept or decline non-essential cookies, and change your choice at any time.

7. Privacy rights of US residents

Depending on the US state you live in (for example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with similar laws), and where these laws apply to us, you may have the right to:

  • Know and access: ask what personal information we have collected about you, where we got it, why we use it and who we share it with, and get a copy.
  • Delete: ask us to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions (for example, records we must keep for tax purposes).
  • Correct: ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information and of targeted advertising. See section 6 for how.
  • Not be treated unfairly: we will not deny you products, charge you a different price or give you a lower level of service because you used your privacy rights.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require us to offer a right to limit its use. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

To make a request, email support@getpawgroom.com. We may need to verify your identity, usually by matching your request to your email address and order details. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof that the agent is allowed to act for you. We respond within the time the law requires (generally 45 days). If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and if you are not satisfied with the outcome you may contact your state Attorney General.

Categories of personal information we have collected in the past 12 months: identifiers (name, email, address, phone number, IP address, online identifiers); commercial information (orders and purchase history); internet or network activity (browsing and interactions with our store); approximate location; and customer support communications and reviews. We collect and disclose this information for the purposes and to the categories of recipients described in sections 3, 5 and 6.

8. Privacy rights under EU and UK law

Because PawGroom is established in the European Union, the GDPR applies to how we handle personal information. You have the right to:

  • Access your personal information and receive a copy.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Erase your information in certain circumstances.
  • Restrict or object to our use of your information, including objecting at any time to its use for direct marketing.
  • Data portability: receive the information you gave us in a commonly used format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent. This does not affect what we did before you withdrew it.

To use any of these rights, email support@getpawgroom.com. We reply within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Our lead authority is the Portuguese data protection authority, Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), www.cnpd.pt. If you live in another EU or EEA country, you may contact your local authority, and if you live in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.

9. International transfers

We are based in Portugal, and our service providers operate in several countries. Your information may be processed outside the country where you live, including in the European Union, the United States and the countries where our fulfillment partner, its suppliers and carriers operate. When personal information covered by the GDPR is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on a legally recognized safeguard, such as an adequacy decision of the European Commission (including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified) or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described above:

  • Order, payment and invoicing records: for as long as tax and accounting laws require (in Portugal, generally up to 10 years).
  • Customer support messages: for as long as needed to resolve your request and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of follow-up or dispute.
  • Marketing data: until you unsubscribe or after a prolonged period of inactivity.
  • Reviews: for as long as they are published, or until you ask us to remove them.
  • Cookie and advertising data: for the lifetime of the cookie or the period set by the provider.

After these periods we delete or anonymize the information.

11. Children

Our store is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@getpawgroom.com and we will delete it.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Our store and checkout run on Shopify and are served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, payments are handled by regulated payment providers, and access to order data is limited to those who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you think your information has been compromised, please contact us right away.

13. Links to other sites

Our store may link to other websites or services (for example, a carrier's tracking page). We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please read their privacy policies.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when our practices or the law change. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If the changes are significant, we will give more prominent notice.

15. Contact

Questions, requests or complaints about privacy: support@getpawgroom.com. A real person reads every email, and we reply within 1 business day (formal privacy requests are answered within the legal time limits above).
